Founder, Pastor Carrie Wood
Carrie (Rev. Carole) Wood is a graduate of the Local Pastors School at Perkins Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. She is retired from the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church and moved back to southeast Michigan to be closer to extended family. Her heart is for the downtrodden and since learning about human trafficking in 2013, she has devoted her life to fighting this heinous crime. Carrie is the founder of Pearls of Great Price Coalition, a non-profit 501c3 ecumenical organization bent on preventing human trafficking in all its forms.
President, Vicki L. Harkey, RDH, MBA
Vicki became a member of Pearls of Great Price Coalition after attending the first Pearls Human Trafficking Symposium in 2017. Feeling a deep calling to join the fight, she organized and chaired many Pearls events including the popular “Fashion for Freedom” fundraisers and the male-targeted “Courageous Outrage” educational dinner. Vicki was invited to become a Pearls board member in 2019 and also serves on the marketing committee. Although most comfortable in “behind-the-scenes” roles, Vicki was honored to accept Carrie Wood’s invitation to transition to the role of President to lead Pearls’ efforts to affirm
and restore the value of all those affected by human trafficking.
Vicki’s professional career has focused on the dental industry, where she currently serves as a human resource and transition consultant to dentists. Vicki and her husband, Chris, have been married for 30 years and have 3 grown daughters. She is regularly involved in other church ministries, including mission trips to Guatemala.

Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery. It is a crime under international and federal law and the State of Michigan as well as each individual state in the United States. The term “severe forms of trafficking in persons” is the statement reflecting how serious it is for it to be slavery and includes
both sex and labor trafficking.
